Quabbin Mediation was founded in 1995 by current Executive Director and longtime North Quabbin resident Sharon Tracy. Sharon and the other founding staff worked with Orange District Court personnel, the Presiding Justice, attorneys, police, businesses, school principals, human service agencies, and faith organizations to create an organization that would serve the needs of the North Quabbin. Over the years, the organization’s staff and volunteer mediators have helped many thousands of people resolve their disputes.

Quabbin Mediation is approved by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to provide mediation services to the District Courts of Orange, Eastern Hampshire, Palmer; the Franklin Probate and Family Court, the Hampshire Probate and Family Court; and the Franklin/Hampshire Juvenile Court.

Providing mediation services in the communities surrounding the District Courts, the organization serves hundreds of disputants per year. Referrals are made to Quabbin Mediation through community organizations, including elders programs, local officials, social service agencies, schools, police, and the courts.

Since its founding, Quabbin Mediation has conducted workshops and training  for police departments, school systems, social service agencies, Court personnel, businesses, youth groups, houses of worship, and others.

Quabbin Mediation is a member of the international Association of Conflict Resolution and of the National Association for Community Mediation.
